EV vs gasoline
Compare annual energy cost
Hold annual mileage constant and compare EV grid electricity with a gasoline vehicle using adjustable efficiency, MPG, gas price, and state electricity rate.
What these EV calculators model
Driving-cost tools start with kWh per 100 miles and annual mileage, then add an adjustable charging-loss assumption before applying the electricity rate. Charge-session tools use battery size, state-of-charge window, charging losses, and charger power.
DOE describes Level 1 as 120 V charging and Level 2 as 208/240 V AC charging. Actual vehicle and EVSE limits vary, so charger power is editable.
